NEWS:

Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak congratulated Karm Singh on his nomination as the Party’s official candidate for Etobicoke North today. Hudak thanked Singh for his dedication to Etobicoke’s hardworking families, seniors and business owners. After eight years, Ontario needs change from Dalton McGuinty, the Tax Man, and his tax hikes, expensive energy experiments and reckless spending.

With changebook, the Ontario PCs have a focused plan to put families first and give them the relief they need. Changebook will put more money in the pockets of hardworking Ontario families, provide change to guarantee the services they need, such as health and education, and change to clean up Dalton McGuinty’s legacy of waste, fraud and secret deals.

Singh is a young entrepreneur in the retail industry and long-time resident of Etobicoke. His community involvement includes membership on the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce and the Malton Sports Club. As a husband looking forward to becoming a father by the end of the year, Singh understands the kind of change Etobicoke families need.

QUOTES:

“Dalton McGuinty’s Tax Man routine has produced higher taxes, higher hydro bills, and left families asking for relief. With Karm as their representative at Queen’s Park in an Ontario PC government, the hardworking families of Etobicoke North will finally get the respect they deserve.”
-Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader

“I hear families tell me every day they are working harder and getting less because of the McGuinty Liberals’ tax hikes, waste, secret deals and expensive energy experiments. Changebook offers families the change they deserve.”
-Karm Singh, Etobicoke North Ontario PC Candidate

QUICK FACTS:

  • A Tim Hudak government will change the tax system to allow all couples to share up to $50,000 of their income for tax purposes. A typical middle class family earning $70,000 could save $476 per year.
  • To give families additional tax relief and to spur economic growth, a Tim Hudak government will lower income taxes by 5% on the first $75,000 of taxable income. This will put $258 back in the pocket of a taxpayer earning $70,000 each and every year when our tax relief plan is fully implemented.
  • A PC government would provide $275 in immediate relief on rising energy bills for families and seniors facing rising energy bills by:
    • Removing the HST from home hydro and home heating bills;
    • Removing the Debt Retirement Charge from residential hydro bills. We will remove the so-called “Debt Retirement Charge” from hydro bills. The full amount had been collected by 2010 – yet the McGuinty government extended it to 2018.
