Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak congratulated Donna Skelly on her nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale. Hudak applauded and thanked Skelly for her unwavering focus on reducing the size and cost of government and kick-starting the economy to create private-sector jobs.

“As a proud mother of two teenagers, active community leader and distinguished journalist, Donna relates to the struggles people face as they seek to establish families and work in her community,” said Hudak. “She understands what government must do to make Ontario a better place for families and job creation.” said Hudak.

“While our community and our province are in the midst of a jobs and debt crisis because of the McGuinty government’s reckless overspending, I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge,” Skelly noted. “I was proud to spearhead an initiative to help save Canada’s oldest independent television station and the 125 jobs dependent on it – and that’s the same drive and commitment I will bring to representing the needs of our community.”
“Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC Party have made a series of strong, principled proposals that would rebuild our economy and put our province on the path to recovery,” stated Skelly, noting several specific Ontario PC plans for private sector job growth which include:

  • Balancing the budget to encourage businesses to expand and hire
  • Lowering taxes for job-creating businesses
  • Treating affordable energy as a cornerstone of economic growth
  • A more flexible and responsive approach to regulation, and
  • More skilled trades jobs by modernizing the apprenticeship system.
