(Queen’s Park) – Today, Lynn Morrison, Ontario’s Integrity Commissioner, confirmed that Alfred Apps, a lawyer representing Ornge, engaged in improper lobbying because of emails Mr. Apps sent and meetings he attended with Government officials to discuss happenings at Ornge.

“The issue before us is a lack of transparency,” said Ontario PC Transportation Critic, Frank Klees. “The scandal at Ornge blossomed because of a lack of oversight by the Ministry and its officials. That lack of oversight remains at the doorstep of the Minister and the Premier.”

“This is an indictment of a senior Liberal insider lobbying fellow Liberals about the happenings at Ornge,” stated Klees. “We know that Don Guy and Alfred Apps were heavily involved. This begs the question, how many more Liberal insiders are involved?”

These new developments leave too many more questions unanswered. It’s time for the Premier to tell Ontarians:

1. Which public office holders in the McGuinty Government attended meetings arranged by Alfred Apps or other Liberal insiders?

2. The role Don Guy had in any of these arrangements.

3. How many other interactions with “unregistered” lobbyists the McGuinty Government has engaged in?

4. The Premier needs to order all political staff to the Ministers of Health, the Minister of Finance and Premier’s Office past and present, to release their private notes, calendars and contact reports detailing which lobbyists – registered or not – they met with and on what issue over the same duration of the ORNGE scandal?

“We know the Minister of Health has refused to accept responsibility for this scandal, but the Premier has to answer to Ontarians why he’s allowing the lack of transparency, accountability and Ministerial oversight under his watch,” concluded Klees.
