The following is a statement by Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak on Pakistan’s Independence Day:

“On August 14th, Ontarians of Pakistani descent celebrate the 65th anniversary of the founding of their native country and its proud transition from colonialism to self-determination and sovereignty for all citizens.

“Today, Ontario is home to a strong and growing Pakistani-Canadian community that has made many lasting contributions to our province.

“Thousands came to Ontario from Pakistan to work hard, achieve their goals and dreams, start families and help their children to reach even higher. More than anything, they came to build a brighter more prosperous future.

“Look no further than communities like Waterloo, Mississauga and Toronto which all been enriched by the contributions of Pakistani-Canadians as business leaders and entrepreneurs, elected officials, performing artists and active members of their faith communities.

“On behalf of the Ontario PC Caucus, I hope all Ontarians of Pakistani heritage have a joyous celebration as they mark Pakistan’s Independence Day with friends, families and neighbours.”
