OTTAWA – Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak and Ottawa South PC candidate Jason MacDonald today visited with Karole and Donnie Hill, the owners of Mooney’s Bay Bistro in Ottawa South. Hudak used his visit to Dalton McGuinty’s own riding to challenge McGuinty to join him in formally pledging never to support raising taxes as part of a deal with the NDP.
After the 2003 and 2007 election campaigns, Dalton McGuinty was quick to manufacture excuses for his broken promise tax hikes. It is becoming increasingly clear that Dalton McGuinty is planning to use the NDP as his next excuse for hiking taxes. The NDP has openly campaigned on a massive tax hike on employers, and has even gone so far as to make a tax-hike one of its five priorities for any post-election negotiations.
A Tim Hudak Government will never introduce a tax increase. We will never support a tax increase proposed by another party. Under a Tim Hudak government, taxes will go in only one direction – down
“Whether he says ‘the deficit made me do it’ or ‘the recession made me do it’, two things are certain. Dalton always hikes taxes. And he never takes responsibility. Today – in 2011 – it is increasingly clear what Dalton McGuinty’s next excuse for hiking taxes will be. He will claim he has to hike taxes as the cost of doing a deal with the NDP.”
– Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader“Today I am signing a formal public pledge – that I will not increase taxes and that I will not support another party’s attempt to increase taxes. I am challenging Dalton McGuinty to do the same.”
– Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader
