MISSISSAUGA — Today, Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak was joined by Ontario PC candidates Amarjeet Gill (Mississauga-Brampton South), Zoran Churchin (Mississauga East-Cooksville), David Brown (Mississauga Erindale), Geoff Janoscik (Mississauga South) and Wafik Sunbaty (Mississauga Streetsville) to announce the Ontario PC Party’s income sharing plan that will give families greater flexibility in the way they choose to arrange their household.
Dalton McGuinty is so out-of-touch that he supports a tax system that casts value judgments on families based on how they choose to run their household. For example, two people with taxable incomes of $35,000 pay lower income taxes than two people earning $20,000 and $50,000 – even though both families are earning $70,000. A Tim Hudak government will allow couples to share up to $50,000 of their income for tax purposes, saving a typical middle-class family $400-$1400 a year.
On October 6, families will have a clear choice: Dalton McGuinty or the NDP – who support a tax system that treats families unfairly just because one spouse chooses to work part-time or stay at home to raise the kids or care for an elderly parent – or Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC Party who recognize that there really is a family budget and will give all families the tax relief they deserve.
“A Tim Hudak government will fix Dalton McGuinty’s tax system that casts value judgments on families, so that all families are treated equality. Income sharing means $400 to $1,400 dollars more for families to put back in the household budget to spend on their own priorities again.”
–Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader
“As a dad, I know what a difference this kind of tax relief can make for a young, growing family. It goes a long way in recognizing it’s not my wife Debbie’s budget. It’s not my budget. It’s our family budget.”
